Hari Puisi Sedunia atau World Poetry Day ditetapkan oleh UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) pada tanggal 21 Maret.

1. Aku by Chairil Anwar

Aku ini binatang jalang
Dari kumpulannya terbuang

Biar peluru menembus kulitku
Aku tetap meradang menerjang

Luka dan bisa kubawa berlari
Berlari
Hingga hilang pedih peri

Dan akan akan lebih tidak perduli

Aku mau hidup seribu tahun lagi

2. Sajak Pertemuan Mahasiswa by W.S. Rendra

Matahari terbit pagi ini
mencium bau kencing orok di kaki langit
melihat kali coklat menjalar ke lautan
dan mendengar dengung di dalam hutan

lalu kini ia dua penggalah tingginya
dan ia menjadi saksi kita berkumpul disini
memeriksa keadaan

kita bertanya :
kenapa maksud baik tidak selalu berguna
kenapa maksud baik dan maksud baik bisa berlaga
orang berkata : “kami ada maksud baik”
dan kita bertanya : “maksud baik untuk siapa ?”

3. I Am Not Yours by Sara Teasdale

I am not yours, not lost in you,
Not lost, although I long to be
Lost as a candle lit at noon,
Lost as a snowflake in the sea.

You love me, and I find you still
A spirit beautiful and bright,
Yet I am I, who long to be
Lost as a light is lost in light.

Oh plunge me deep in love–put out
My senses, leave me deaf and blind,
Swept by the tempest of your love,
A taper in a rushing wind.

4. Love by Elizabeth Barret Browning

We cannot live, except thus mutually
We alternate, aware or unaware,
The reflex act of life: and when we bear
Our virtue onward most impulsively,
Most full of invocation, and to be
Most instantly compellant, certes, there
We live most life, whoever breathes most air
And counts his dying years by sun and sea.
But when a soul, by choice and conscience, doth
Throw out her full force on another soul,
The conscience and the concentration both make
mere life, Love. For Life in perfect whole
And aim consummated, is Love in sooth,
As nature’s magnet-heat rounds pole with pole.

5. All The World’s A Stage by William Shakespeare

All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms.
Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress’ eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon’s mouth.

6. Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
