La La Land memimpin 89th Academy Awards dengan 14 nominasi penghargaan.

Hal ini mencakup nominasi pada 4 kategori besar, yaitu Best Picture, Best Director untuk Damian Chazelle, Best Actrees untuk Emma Stone, dan Best Actor untuk Ryan Gosling. Hanya All About Eve dan Titanic saja yang pernah mendapatkan banyak nominasi sebelumnya.

La La Land akan bersaing untuk meperebutkan nominasi Best Picture dengan 8 film lainnya yakni Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, dan Moonlight.

Justin Timberlake merupakan salah satu kandidat terbaik dalam nominasi Best Original Song untuk single nya yang berjudul “Can’t Stop The Feeling!“ yang menjadi soundtrack film animasi Trolls.

Pemenang akan diumumkan pada 22 Februari di Los Angeles Amerika Serikat.
